President’s Report
Preparing for the visit of the District Governor will be the focus this week The District Governor will attend on the 2nd September please plan to be present as a good roll up would be appreciated. I was hoping each committee would report to the District Governor on their work for the year ahead.
I hope to launch the raffle soon. The Golf Day and Antique Fair preparation is well under way. We are proposing the November Melbourne Cup fund raiser again.
The Board have agreed to the purchase the Breakfast Point BBQ Trailer (from Holroyd) and that will be running around soon.
Speaker Notes
The presentation this week was by Dianne Langmack about the Cell and Gene Trust. She was accompanied by the Trust’s Fundraising Manager, Karina Dealtry. Dianne is prominent in a number of charitable organisations, and being a cancer survivor, spoke very much from the heart about the good work of the Trust and its lead researcher, Professor John Rasko. The Trust raises funds for advanced medical research into cell and gene therapies and is heavily dependent on donations. The area is especially relevant to genetic diseases and inherited immune disorders. Stephen indicated our club would consider the Trust for some support and of course members may choose to donate individually.
